Washougal's amazing Panthers collected their sec- ond straight Class A high school baseball cham- pionship by knocking off Carroll of Yakima 2-1 be- fore a good-sized mob at Parker field in Yakima last Friday . The tension-packed title victory boosted Washou- gaI's final season record to 22 wins, 1 loss and improved their two-year mark to 43-3 . The intensely waged championship battle capped a tough week for the panthers who had to score a pair oftriumphs in the regional playoffs on Wednesday and had only one day off before facing Carroll for all the marbles . But that didn't stop the Panthers . Right-hander Jerry Green chalked up his 11th win of the cam- paign - even though he hurled the game with only about 50 hours rest - and struck out 13 in leading the Panther charge to victory .
