The Panthers were famed for a stingy defense and balanced scoring. The highlight of the regular season was a one point victory over Scappoose in the Scappoose Christmas Tournament. They breezed through league play unscathed and entered the District Tournament with a 20-0 record. The Panthers took their first two contests but lost a controversial third game to a tough Morton five. They came back to rout Yelm to finish third. In the first game at the State tourney the Panthers were their winning selves. However the Panthers couldn't get untracked in the next two contests, eliminating them from the tournament. Leading scorer was Tim Hagensen. He set school scoring marks for season and lifetime. Hagensen was on the All-District and on the All-Trico team with leading Panther rebounder Tim Wysaske and Senior Lonnie Tipton. Dan Frosh was selected for second team Trico Honors while Jeff Kinart received honorable mention. .
