It endeavors to give them training that is both sound and thorough on the theoretical side, but which gives due attention to the practical side as well. CALYX 1932 The School of Applied Science THE School of Engineering in Washington College was established in 1866 by General Robert E. Lee, and in 1913 its name was changed to the School of Applied Science of Washington and Lee University. The degree offered is Bachelor of Science, which may be taken in civil engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry, and in applied science with major work in biology, chemistry, geology, or physics. The aim of the school is to furnish thorough training in those subjects that constitute the foundation on which a successful career in certain departments of applied science may be built.
