MCCOURT has been with Washington University since 1906 when, after graduating from Cornell University, he came here as lnstructor of Geology.. ln 1928 he was appointed Assistant Chancellor and has ably filled the position since that time. This charter contained the names of these two men and of fifteen other promi- nent citizens as well. These seventeen men constituted the first Board of Directors.
