 Mr. Frank S. Thompson As wc celebrate two hundred years of history in these United States, it is interesting to remember that dear old Washington Union has been in existence for eighty-four of those years. From the small beginning of two graduates in 1896 we have come to accept two hundred graduates as common-place. So, like our country, from a small beginning we have developed into a modern institution with modern facilities, up-to-date curriculum and greater opportunities with each passing year. Although we are constantly encouraged to look forward toward bigger and better things it is well, on occasion, to look back and appreciate how far we have come. Only by looking back can we gain the perspective and appreciation for where we are today. As you the graduates of '76 go through life, you will advance through wonders unheard of today. You will do so because you dare to explore the unknown and you will work toward an ever better world. But, as we have done in our Centennial Year, don’t be afraid to pause and look hack to achieve that perspective for yourself. You will gain a greater appreciation for God, your country, your fellow man and most important of all, yourself. Congratulations to the Class of 1976.
