This year, in addifion fo pracricing hard on The songs and yells lhey worked oul a slunl, forming a large wifh loofball helmels during fheir lasl song. As is rhe cuslom, lhree Senior nighls were held, +he firsr one on Oclober 20, l938, and The olhers during April and May of lhe nexl year. These Senior Nighls, which were carefully planned by James Kalaoka and his commillee, proved a greal source of enioy- menf To all who affended. The evenings were spem' in playing such games as volleyball, ping pong, baslcelball, soccer, and in dancing. The climax of lhe evening was lhe enler- lainmenl, in which new senior laleni' was discovered. Following lhe enlerfainmenl, refreshmenls were served by Jrhe senior girls. Class rings were 'rhe objecf of much discussion, and rhe juniors very proudly displayed fhem al' The beginning of fhe year. Because Jrhe rings were ordered in The la++er parm' of fhe sophomore year, fhey arrived early and caused much envy on fhe parl of fhe lower classmen. The Scholasfic abilily of +he juniors was exceplionally high, as fifieen members of fhis class were represenfed in The California Scholarship Federaiion. The affair was held in Jrhe large gymnasium, which had been especially decoraled for The occasion. The gym was decoraTed appropriaTely Tor The ChrisTmas Theme, wiTh silver and blue as Their basic colors. They used crysTals and snow designs. The cenTral moTiT was an elaboraTe chandelier hanging Trom The cenTer oT The ceiling wiTh a brighTly decoraTed ChrisTmas Tree beneaTh iT. IT proved To be an evening oT greaT enioymem' To all who aTTended. Much oT The school's greaT TalenT is possessed by The sophomore sTudenTs as was shown by The unusually large number who parTicipaTed in The STudenT Body Play, ChrisT- mas PageanT, and The Vodvil. There was also a good repre-senTaTion oT sophomores in The chorus, orchesTra, and band. As one oT The duTies oT The Sophomore Class, They decoraTed The halls and The audiTorium Tor ChrisTmas.
