TIDE ROLLS INTO FIRST PLACE W.T.H.S W.T.S.H W.T.H.S W.T.H.S W.T.H.S W.T.H.S. W.T.H.S W.T.H.S Bob Herron runs for another tally. SCORES 13 Kittanning 26 Shannock Valley 46 Saltsburg 27 South Huntington 46 Elders Ridge 46 Apollo 35 Bell-Avon 45 Laurel Valley The 1958 football season was character- ized by sparkling plays and dynamic team- work. Coached by Mr. Elmore and Mr. Early, the Red Raiders thundered to victory in every game in Section 21-B competition. Even though they lost the season opener to Class AA school Kittanning, the team still went on to capture the Section 21-B trophy, and became champions in the Little Seven Con- ference. Bob Herron, whose fame for run- ning was widespread, was the leading scorer in the A-K Valley with a total of 132 points. Team captain Lang Marks was second in the valley with 108 points, giving the school double distinction. However, district honors gained were not the only honors the team received. They were given a plaque for having the best record for a Class B school in the county, and Bob Herron was the leading W.P.l.A.L. scorer. Bob also ranked seventh in the state for points scored. Thus finished the best year for football in the history of Washington Township. ..,,. ,Y First Row, Left to Right: R. Shirey, S. Hamilton, C. Lantz, B. Black, L. Marks, A. Ritzman, S. Walker, B.
