Setting: Room 7 with Miss Black and Room 8 with Miss Peters. Plot: Consists of fun and study. The studies were the usual Freshmen curricula taught by teachers whom we were surprised to find very human. The fun was, first of all, just being in high school. Shall we ever forget the pep meetings and the noon jamborees ? Then came Christmas and va- cation followed by our first tries at assembling, Room 7 turned green Cfor Saint Patrick's Dayij Room 8 had Mrs. O'Leary's Cow for their assembly and we surprised everybody with our talent. Before we knew it the Coronation Ball, with two of our very own members in the court, and the end of school were upon us so we went home to wait for the fall of 1948. Second Act Time: 1948-1949 Place: Washington Township High School. Setting: Room 4 with Mrs. Bossart and Room 1 with Miss Snively. Plot: More fun and even less time. We were always busy . . . with ball games . . . dances . . . practices . . . Room four's memorable Armistice Day Assembly . . . Christmas then Room One's never to be forgotten Minstrel, black faces, jokes and all. Again spring caught us unaware and we again elected Homer and Doris as our representatives in the royal court and prepared for a long vacation. 1 947 ,iw ws, Third Act Time: l949-l950 Place: W. T. H. S. Setting: Room 5 with Mr. Yarnel and Room 8 with Miss Snively lwe were too big for even Room 5.9 Plot: First we elected as officers, Pres. Homer Kline, Vice-Pres. Victor Pisone, and Sec.-Treas. Virgina Kocur, and became a class united in spirit at least. Then the real fun began . . . we became the proud possessors of our class rings. Next came Christmas followed by our assembly - full of music and murder . . . and the gym blossomed forth as a regular Erin for our dance the Shamrock Heaven. The next big day added a comparatively new word to our vocabularies . . . we talked about dates for the prom . . . cars for the prom . . . prom prom PROM . . . and that night really lived up to our Great Expectations. Then came finals, the coronation ball, re- ports, and summer brought an end to one swell year of fun and study, our jolly, Junior year. Fourth land linall Act Time: l950-l95l Place: The dear old, familiar halls of W.T.H.S. Setting: Room 6 Presided over by Rosie Plot: l'm a senior now, but I don't believe it was the thought of each of us on August 28. But we didn't ponder long . . . there were too many things to do. Elections came first with Homer as prexy, June Brown as Vice-President, and Janice as the girl who was to look after the minutes and money. Second came our Senior Pictures and our assembly where in we turned scientific and SpIit Atoms like mad Scientists l?J. Thirdly came our dance the Turkey Trot followed by Thanksgiving and a long vacation CNOTE: Janice, send a thank you card to Old Man Winter! and Christmas with all the traditional trimmings. And fourthly came everything, or at least so it seemed . . . measure- ments for caps and gowns, orders for name cards . . . etc. etc. etc . . . then the Coronation Ball, the prom . . . finals . . . and . . . but it's not good-by for we'll always remember the friend- ships, the fun' the ballgames, pep meetings, the dances, the really wonderful teachers. As the end comes closer, and anxious as we are to try our own wings we don't want to leave. But it's time for us to go, so Good-by W.T.H.S., we hope all the future students will have as much fun As time Goes By. 4 r J l 5 f l N Q X 3 1951 I X i s 5 Et- ,Qi ' A K' , , I, sw y gf , K viii U It ' :7 f 'f'L if is ff? Now let's see, I might start with . . . let's speed up the progress of time some twenty . . . oh my, l'm sleepy, but I must continue. Let's speed up the progress of time some twenty years to see what has happened to our class. . . ma-t . . e . . s . . . . What's that below me? Why it's the most beautiful and modern city l've ever seen! I can see the name on the hangar at the airport. It says Blairton Airport, Robert C. McMahon, owner. For goodness sake, it's Blairton and Bob McMahon has finally quit flying Buicks and is concentrating on airplanes. Don't tell me that beautiful four story building with glass brick windows, air-conditioning, and escalators is Washington Township High School! But that's what it says on the corner stone: Washington Township High School . . . June I965 . . . Built by V. Pisone Construction Co. What a nice stadium there in the rear and I see football practice is in full swing. There's Coach Bence standing in the middle shouting, Come on you guys, only six more laps and an hour of scrimmage. But what's that fierce blast from the gym? Why, it's basketball coach Conner blowing his whistle for action. I'm not satisfied with just seeing the outside. I'm going to sneak inside. BOOM! l've been caught! Oh no, it's just science professor Reed still trying to build a supersonic Plymouth. Here's a door marked Dancing Instructor and there's Diane Brinker trying to teach Jim Lula the Charles- ton. Who could that be scrubbing the floor at the other end of the hall? Why it's Donald Walker! He must still be working his way through college. Here's good old Room 6, but no Miss Ramaley. Wait now, there she is, observing from her Cracking! chair at the back of the room. Then who is that teacher saying, lm afraid we'll be outlining soon. ? Now I know, it's Eileen Waltenbaugh. Either Mr. Roberts is dyeing his hair blond and using a French accent or, yes it is, it's Mick Mac- Donald teaching French in Room 7. But now I must leave. Say, I wonder why that girl is sitting on the steps in front of the school. Oh, of course! That's Virginia Kocur waiting for Don. Why look at Barclay's! lt's no longer a gas station and store. The sign there says, Penn Auto Parts, D. Klaes and A. Frye owners. Buicks repaired by skilled repairmen. Now let's see just what other modern ideas have invaded Blairton. There it is! I knew they'd have a theatre. My, what up to date pictures they're showing. I see Carolyn Clifton's racy new novel, Forever Carolyn has been made into a prize-winning movie starring Roeburn Bowman as Tyrone and Mary Gulyas as Carolyn. Also, in person this week, BeBop Dransite and his All Girl Dance Band. The next week features Blairton Ernie and his Musical Farm Hands in a return engage- ment to the old home town. Who could that be roller skating down the main street? With that blond hair, it could only be Whitey Pratt. He's practicing for his roller skating debut at Madison Square Gardens next month. What could that huge building at my left be used for? The neon sign in front says, The Secre- tarial Rental Association of Bertieri, Slaughtenhaupt, Dickson and Linsenbigler . . . S. Gumbert, chief bookkeeper. There's another sign of progress . . . the Chamber of Commerce Building. Looking through the window marked president, I see that Homer Kline is seated behind the desk. The person talking to him looks so familiar. Why yes, it's Bob Elwood, now a professional basketball player, getting a little advice from his former teammate. Who's that running into the office? lt's township engi- neer Leonard Hartman. Must be some more trouble in Poke Run. According to the sign on this next window there's a counsellor connected with Blairton. There she is . . . Marjorie Clements. She made it through college and is now helping other col- lege hopefuls. I wonder why that long line is forming over there. Oh, the recruiting service just opened. But what is that girl doing in line? Why, it's Doris Dickson still trying to join the National Guard. Now wait a minute. There's a fellow in the other line. The Wacs are rejecting Terry Weister again. That's funny, there's a girl sitting on top of that little building. lt's artist Mary Bowman painting a canvas of Blairstown. But what could that little building be? Wait, there's a sign on the door . . . . Private practice gym for national basketball star, Dorothy Shaffer. Say, there's the pants factory, but my how it has expanded. I see a beautiful wood paneled office up on the third floor. I wander whose it is. Let's see, the door says, Robert Hronyetz, mechanical engineer. The door of the adjoining office says, Norma Jean Cypher, Head Foreman. Is that a new church over there? Yes it is, and there's June Brown its first director of religious edu- cation. Why there comes a bride out of the church. lt's Nancy Humphrey! I guess she finally won against Carnegie Tech. What could that massive building be called? Why it's a hospital. On the corner stone it says: To the untiring efforts of Head Nurse Schrum, we dedicate this new five story edifice. On each floor there's a special plaque dedicated to a different nurse. The first says, Nurse M. J. Wilmot, pati- ents from Apollo a specialty. The second reads, Nurse M. Casner, all millionaire patients given special attention. The third, dedicated to M. J. Simpson gives special fees for North Washington patients. The fourth floor specializes in redheads in care of Nurse S. J. Ralston. Finally, on the tap floor is a very exclusive ward. Nurse M. J. Morrow gives special attention at a discount to in- jured football players. This hospital certainly believes in progressive medicine. Across the street is the D and Y Beauty Salon. J. Daugherty and E. Young, proprietors. They're keeping the city's ladies looking sharp. l seem to have missed a few old friends. They must be here at the airport. Who's that out in front tripping everyone? lt's Shirley Deemer reminding the travelers to get their tickets. Laura Bracken has originated a new twist of courtesy to the airline hostess job . . . singing to the passengers. There's another hostess, Doris Porter. Since Diane's truck is in the museum, Doris has taken up flying. This has been such a nice trip and . . . BOOMl Gee, what am I doing sitting on the floor . . . and look at the time, I must have fallen asleep. Anyway, it was a nice dream. Who knows, maybe it will come true someday?
