ov' .a-6' With the theme Stanford will bleed car- dinal red as the Cougs rip them apart shred by shred,'I living groups participated in a week of homecoming activities highlighted by a football game with Stanford, a down- town parade, and an all campus dance. Living group competition kicked off the activities on Wednesday, October 20, with a serpentine to Martin Stadium. There, the groups competed in chariot and ameoba races, a tug-of-war, and a skin-the-snake competition. The groups also participated in a banner contest. The banners were displayed down- -nqpq......--.--W-'- town in store windows. A rally at the CUB mall, Friday, Octobe 23, featured a pep speech by football Coacfl Jim Walden. Both yell and rally squads were on hand to help build enthusiasm for Satur' day's homecoming football game. The rally was followed by a downtown parade feature ing floats made by living groups. That night, the ASWSU Homecomin Committee sponsored an all campus dance ai the CUB Ballroom, featuring two bands The event was informal, and for the first timel in years made a profit of almost 53,000 Saturday's football game with Stanford

Homecoming '82, better than ever :opped off the week. The Cougs played bvell, and then in the fourth quarter with :hree minutes left to play, Stanford made a irive down the field, to win the game 51-26. Following the game, the university in- ucted five new members into its Athletic all of Fame. The five university alumnae inducted were JoAnn Washam, outstanding rofessional golfer and basketball player: ohn Van Reenen, world record holder in :liscusg I-Iareland Svare, former collegiate and pro football standout and former coach of the Los Angeles Rams and San Diego Chargers: Pete Radernacher, 1956 Gold Medal winner in the Melbourne Olympic Games Heavyweight boxing division, and Gail Cogdill, former Coug football player and later a star with the Detroit Lions. 1982 HOMECOMING GAME RESULTS OVERALL: 1st Place: Kappa Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Theta. 2nd Place: Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Nu. 3rd Place: Alpha Gamma Delta and Theta Chi.
