Lariat Club Judges Cattle Shows LARIAT CLUB: Dr. Gary Smith, Advisor; Tom Pence, President; Doug Smith, ASCA Representative; Wayne Gossett, Ann Cordill, Jim Walesby, Sharon Hill, Robyn Millar, Reporter. Twenty-five people did not have to be roped into the Lariat Club. It is a professional society affiliated with the College of Agriculture. Its main purpose is to support animal science judging teams financially. Activi¬ ties include exhibiting for open house, supporting Angus sales, sponsoring a dance in the CUB, and having speakers. The organization affiliated last year with National Block and Bridle for exchange of ideas with other clubs. Flower Children Peggy Swartos, Heinz Humann, and Gloria Jones are with an William B. Ackley pops a balloon on his chair, unusual plant. The Horticulture Club is the apple of the eyes of Heinz Humann, president, and Dr. Charles Pfeiffer, advisor. Promoting a closer tie between horticulture students and in¬ structors is the basic purpose of the Club. Ice skating in Spokane and the production of approximately 700 gallons of apple cider were the main functions within the club. Agriculture Problems Studied MU BETA BETA: Bev Heinemann, Marianna Knapp, Susan Hayes, John Augustine, President; Cathy Geier, Kathy Schell, Janice Peterson, Linda Guenther, Kay Steininger, Lynda McCauley, John McLean, Shirley Killingsworth. Virgil stated that man should command large fields, but cultivate small ones. Mu Beta Beta, led by President John Augustine and Advisor Rita Sullivan, helped propagate this ideal. Their main focal interest lies in pro¬ motion of 4-H. This is an honorary society for outstanding students. Home Economics majors aren’t the only ones who feel at home on the range. The Range Management society studies practices of range management, economical use of land, and conservation of open range land.
