Holland Library Holland Library, honoring Dr. Ernest O. Holland- President of WSC from 1916 to 1945 - was dedicated on May 28, 1950. The library is arranged according to a divisional library plan: humanities, social science, and science. The libraryls special features include: Audio-Visual Center, Listening Laboratory, Archives Library, Reserve Book Room, and Orton Room, where special exhibits are displayed. The lib1'ary,s history began in 1892-1893 when the library was housed in The Cribf' original college building. It soon moved to the first floor of Old College Hall, where Science Hall now stands. When Bryan Hall was completed in 1908, the library occupied two floors. By 1927, collections of books were stored in rooms throughout the campus. Ground was broken on March 15, 1948, for a new building, and service to the public began in the summer of 1951. Latest figures show that there were 763,500 volumes in the library on Iuly 1, 1962.
