Johnson Hall One of the newest buildings on campus, the $4,000,000 Johnson Hall, was built from 1959 to 1961. The plant sciences building was designed primarily for research, but students in Agronomy, Agriculture, Horticulture, Mathematics, and Military use the new facilities also. Named after E. C. Johnson, former dean of the College of Agriculture, it is now the site of many annual and biennial short courses. • ' r ' i ' Tn , --•iife- ' -

■ i Iff If rr ir ' rtinrir!; ' |jrii--: WSU Campus As a land grant college, we celebrated the centennial of the Congressional action of 1861 this year. The 7,828 enrollment set a record in the fall. Colleges which WSU now boasts include Agri- culture, Economics and Business, Education, Engi- neering, and Mineral Technology, Home Economics, Pharmacy, Physical Education and Recreation, Sci- ences and Arts, and Veterinary Medicine. The state General Extension Service is also situated on our campus. In the heart of Whitman county, the largest wheat producing county in the United States, Pullman stu- dents seldom see the wheat fields as they are harvested. Usually students observe only the stubble and worked ground in the fall with its colorful patterns, and the beautiful green wheat as it moves with the wind in the Spring. ' «» -

Fulmer Hall chemistry students and researchers had new laboratory facilities this year as the $2,500,000 addition to Fulmer Hall was completed. Originally built in 1935, it was named after Elton Fulmer, former chairman of the Department of Chemistry. A new auditorium is also part of the addition. It seats about 375 students and is just right for chem lectures. Walking past Fulmer on a nice spring day, one has no difficulty iden- tifying it as the chemistry building. The aroma which fills the air makes it clear.
