T Williams, McCluskey, Robinson Binns McAllister Board of Regent The Board of Regents of the State College of Washington has general powers including management ofthe College and Experiment Stations, preservation of property, construction of buildings, expenditure of all moneys, and determination and administration of policies and activities pertaining to students, faculty and staff. The board makes contracts, Hxes luitions and salaries, and makes faculty and staff appointments. It has the power to delegate certain authorities. The president of the college is in effect a general agent of the Board of Regents. Some of the important activities of the board in 1948 were deter- mination of revised administrative organization of the State college, approval of personnel policies for faculty and staff, and preparation of budget request for presentation to the 1949 legislature including request for 351,000,000 to assist in the construction of the College Union building. President of the Board of Regents is Mr. Carl C. Williams of Ken- newick. Vice-President is Dean Charles E. McAllister, Spokane, and Mr. James A. McCluskey, Spokane, is treasurer. Other members in- clude Mr. Walter I. Robinson of Pomeroy, and Mr. John H. Binns of Tacoma. Dr. Wilson Compton is ex officio secretary of the board. The governor of the state is an ex officio advisory member of the board. 20
