It prepares him to fill any post with credit, and to master any subject with facility . ' ' A In the year nineteen hundred and seventy-three, Miss Margaret Kazan joined the faculty staff of Washington School taking on the responsibility of teaching Reading, English, and Drama classes. Since that year she has introduced to Washington a unique interest in the exciting field of drama by establishing an active charter of the Thespian Society. The club has performed for numerous school programs with Miss Kazan directing. Being highly educated, Miss Kazan shares her enthusiasm for William Faulkner and other American authors with her industrious Jun- iors. She has instilled in her pupils a detailed and extensive background in literature and grammar. For the past four years, Miss Kazan has devoted much of her attention to being the advisor of the Sabre Staff. Only because of her industrious and efficient handling of publication matters is the staff able to meet the deadlines involved in publishing a yearbook. With gratitude for her devotion to the annual and appreciation for- her efforts in education. the Sabre Staff would like to dedicate this Bicentennial edition to Miss Mar- Dedication Q7 ' '11- f -, ,,Yf ' 3 --, F i . - ,AJ LE i ., fm I - ' f W, A W Li 'Q . 1.51,...zum-:2Q...g-8 M., ,. A detailed self- evaluation was written, printed, and bound in the spring of 1975. Then in the fall, outstanding educators from public and private schools and colleges spent three days inspecting WS's programs and facilities. Finally, in December, Mrs. Sidney, Mr. Bevalaque, and Mr. Meeks went to Atlanta to represent tl1e school when WS was the first 1-12 graded private school in Mississippi ever to receive accreditation by the SACS. Right: Mr. Meeks and Mr. Bevalaque received certificates of accreditation from the SACS by Dr. Charles Holladay, chairman of the Mississippi Secondary Committee of SACS. In an emotional and enter- taining This-Is-Your-Life program, on May 4, 1976, Fred DeLong, master of ceremonies, pre- sented many individuals, some of whom are pic- tured below, to capture those fond recollections of childhood sweethearts, distant relatives, for- mer teachers and students, and colleagues in the teaching profession. As the program ended, Mr. DeLong commented to Mrs. McCollum, Perhaps you can never know just how many lives you have touched. But we know . . . because we are your children, your grandchildren, and your friends. We love you: we admire you, and we honor you. fx E x x E r X 4- my Q 4-3' 5.4 5.Nx.. ,A '19 .fl --,1. 'Q' fx. 1 . The following pictures represent special moments, special times, and special places that are indelibly recorded in the memory books by the class of '76 . New antics played by new and not-so-new faces, resulted in an off- color motto of lovers and livers for the seniors. Excitement experi- enced as an underclassman radiates into expressions of '76 graduates. Our Class Officers, nothing like them ever was, nothing like them ever will be, hopefu1ly, were Tammie Wiggs - Sec.: Chris Glasco - Pres.: Jana Clark - Treas.g and Charles Yarbrough - V.P.
