Mr. Burghardt is the leader of our German bantL and his hearty laugh cheered 11s when we became discouraged. Second Lieutenant 7111: Elliott, came upon the campus after we were pretty we11 lined up. He brought with 111111 11213111115;- ton Irving, William Shakesphere 211111 Mr. Hawthorne. who made the evenings very interesting by tehing their famous stories. 311-. Filintt atways had a joke or a love story to te11: the latter made him popular with the militants. The camp was :1 bee-hive of activities during the year past. There was always p1enty of work and plenty of p1ay. In order to break the monotmiy, dances and entertainnmnts were given. The news of his death caused much bereave- ment in camp, and the deep sympathy of 1111 was extended to his family.
