Open Campus is here! Open Campus means that students who want to leave school grounds during lunch or unscheduled time are allowed to do so with parental permission. The W-L Administration feels that vvith 50 minutes for lunch the student body should be given the opportunity to leave school grounds. Mr. Long said that he thinks the students will make it work and Mr. Ness, agreeing with him, said. Open campus is here to stay '... 'lhey feel that W-lfs student body is responsible enough to go out and be hack for Sth period on time. Some students say that by taking advantage of Open Campus it's hard to be back in time for Sth period. Others think the lunch period should be an hour and a hall long. Despite complaints like the above, Open Campus does give students time to study, be among friends, get extra help from teachers. and get rid of frustra- tions and the feelings of imprison- ment that the unbroken school day can build up. The only complaint the adminis- tration has had about open campus is from W-L neighbors. They have commented upon the throwing of trash in their yards. and upon people running around in their front yards. Students have got to respect the rights of these people, and as long as they stay off of private property and quit hanging on the corners as Mr. Ness put it. it's here to stay! t 1 5
