I' Walking from class to class was a scenic pleasure thanks to students taking courses under the Art Department. The beautiful, frequently changing murals were, for the large part, art class projects. Crafts, silk screening, painting, and sketching were some of the skills W-L students worked to master. A new darkroom was built in the department, and those interested in graphic arts were able to pursue photo-silk screening. The annual spring art show was a big success for those students who displayed their works, and for the many who enjoyed and purchased pictures, wall-hangings, and pieces of sculpture. -- -r W -r H' ' 1-1?:fZ'QL ..7 9----1 J e H e so L,,,,g it , '65, gb, , A, , -it5Y- Ygef .ir Y K? wizilrg If fy J ,,f- :QL ' - , rg , w'f'1i ' N, Y-, -,--.., f, 1- - 'T' jgwg Z I , ik' K -f -W 1- Y -1' flfl 4' r ,x ' , - , v,:.- ..,:4 f,Q,- . , f I 1,7 -w,g,,j- ' - - ,- ,, H ,, f. English All Washington-Lee students had one thing in common - an English course, but the type of course was not necessarily the same. The elective system in English was changed slightly this year, with those choosing this option covering vocabulary, composition, and grammar during the first semester, followed by two quarters of elective study. Along with this elective system and a traditional full-year English course, there were courses for the advanced English student starting with Enriched English in lOth grade, and Advanced Placement English courses in l lth and l2th grades. Students still had two more options. Some juniors preferred American Civilization, a combination of English and history, while many seniors chose to study the fine and literary arts through the ages by participating in the Art-English-Music seminar. xi Il fi, r J' 1 , V ' ' ffliihiini zz 'ig , r, 'yvlbnplbxs ,W . .. ?
