Administration and Guidance nf! O U Johansen, Principal Dear Students: Each generation has its unique problems and its unique environment, and to some degree, each of us becomes a product of his own special environment. In spite of this, it is my hope that each of you will have strengths and inner convictions which arise from something other than what is fashionable and contemporary, that you will not be totally enveloped and influenced by the current of the times which is often treacherous and shifting. Keep in mind, also, the necessity for remaining young in spirit. Youth, it has been said, belongs to every man whose dreams outweigh his memories and if you always have principles higher than your ambitions, if your dreams always exceed your grasp, you will keep forever the quality of youth. My best wishes to all of you as you go your separate ways in life. O.LJ. Johansen tif- f Mr Johansen and Student-Faculty Senate 20

Administration and Guidance This year brought changes in the W-l. Administration, Instead of having a Dean of Girls and a Dean ot Boys, the system was altered, and we had three Assistant Principals, one assigned to each particular grade. Mr, Ness moved from Guidance and was made Assistant Principal for the lOth grade, Mr, Long was put in charge of the juniors, and Mr. Wilson headed the seniors. Mrs. Matthews became Director of Curriculum, replacing Dr. Webb. In the Guidance Department, Mrs. Guter filled the position left vacant upon Mrs. Peckham's retirement. lt must be added that this department was as busy as usual this year, with counselors helping students to solve problems in scheduling, college boards, and admissions. The College Day Program was held early in the year at Thomas Jefferson Community Center, and was a great success.
