1' 16 A 15 'W Mrs. Lois Downs Mrs. Mildred Nixon Mrs. Grace Thomas OFFICE ASSISTANTS Gretchen Green, Gayle August, Shirley Vitale, and Miss Georgia Alexander work in W-L's central ottice, Secretaries and Attendance The present attendance system was initiated in the W-L program last year. This system is the only one ot its kind in Virginia, and it has proved to be quite ettective. Students returning to school atter on absence are ad- mitted by Mrs. Lippy and six guidance counselors. The students are given an admittance card which must be signed by each subiect teacher. Each absence becomes part ot a detailed record but it is not torgotten: Mrs. Catherine Lippy then contacts the parents tor veritication ot absences. The secretaries in the main ottice are not concerned with the detailed work which contronts the attendance ottice, but they are responsible tor the accuracy ot the permanent records. The secretaries record such items as grades, reading scores, and remarks at the taculty on the student'5 perma- nent record. Patience and understanding are two aualitica- tions besides their clerical abilities which these secretaries certainly possess. 7-4 , Q., ,, s,..:w,,.,.-.V , TEMP!
