THE LAST HURRAH Since we have chosen to dedi- cate our yearbook to Literature, we cannot help but think as we reach our farewell: Voluine I of the Book of Life is drawing to a close. Nevertheless, farewell to W.I. is a hard phrase to accept. We have coine to lore and to cherish the instruinent of our education and our happiness. No one can deny that we shall drop a tear while hearing the last strains of the Wash ing- ton Irving Marching Songn played. We shall think, sorrowfully, that never again as part of the student body shall we march to its rhythm. W.I. itself, though, has taught us that the time spent in high school inust be looked upon as a gradual progres- sion toward the duties and responsibilities we must meet after graduation. Our teachers have led us to see that we inust look to Volume II. A true farewell cannot be said without looking toward the future, a future in which we have pledged to in- clude continued INDUSTRY, unquestionable INTEGRITY, and undzminishing INTELLI- GENCE.
