Through the head monitors, the monitor board, and the monitors themselves, we have been able to proudly say that Washington l-ligh School is orderly and respectable, The students you see on this page have worked to make this school the happiest for teachers, students, and parents alike, Those few who step out ot line once in awhile are not given any shame or great punishment, but they are helped by these students in a way that shows them the correct attitude to take in a society such as ours here in this school. They nom- inated: Marilyn Rush, Muriel Mossing, Jean Steinbeck, Nancy Aikens, Carla Thoelke, Vir- ginia Turchen, Dave Paulson, Mike Gibson, David Bork, Roy Lane, Chuck Anderson, and Tom Schleicher, and very thoughtfully elected Byron Payne and Judy Assam. Byron went out for football this past year, l-le may be your football hero someday, kids. He also likes Drive-Ins pretty well, and that is good news for the girls. Judy's dancing has put her in the limelight several times since she's been in high school. Keep up the good work. You freshmen have made a wonderful start in your high school career. You've got a lot of fun ahead of you! Dick Viehweg mode o big hit os Master of Ceremonies ot the Freshmon Frolic. r it Sophomore T pioals The hands of the clock were showing 8100 atm, as the sophomores filed in the auditorium to elect their representatives. Once seated, they nominated: Dave Baker, Bob Roth, Roger Axland, Bill Pitts, Dick Falconer, Jim Kelly, Judy Allen, Barbara Lease, Mary Skarda, Laur- ice Houck, Mavis Lubbinge, and Lynne Ker- sten, and elected Carolyn Sonichsen and Jim Parker, Jim made a very good showing on the sophomore football team this year, and last year he was Spinster candidate. Watch that ambitious guy, he is likely to go places, Caro- lyn made a pretty Hi-Y Carnival Candidate with her smile. Next year you will see a lot of her on the cheerleading squad. Guys and gals, you are just beginning to have your fun! Sophomores hove danced to Bundy's music ond will dance many times ogoinl .-g 1 How do you do, young mon of wisdom, but are you reolly sure? l thought you were on o diet, Tommy Junior Uffioers Dick Ronlcen, Wayne Gustafson, Lois Rossovv, and Sandra Sona, the faithful jun- ior officers, have worked for their class. They carefully planned the junior party and guided the class through all of this last year. The juniors elected these people to rep- resent them because of their ambition, scholarship, personality, ability, and initia- tive. You have a class to be proud of. Without the competent and understanding Mrs Foss, the band would be mediocre, indeed, but under his direction, the group excels in all fields. This year the band has had two formal concerts and two concerts combined with the chorus. Many of the band members auditioned for the All State Band, and also competed in the music contest at Madison. Something new was added in connection with OLDg the swing band at the Talent Show was composed of band members. lnstrumentolists cit work N.. Much midnight oil was burned over this year's question, Resolved that the Atlantic Pact Nations Could Form a Federal Union, but the majority ot debates won was the reward.
