It is very kind of you to ask me to write a few words for the Senior Annual. I appreciate this honor. As I write these lines I am sitting by my library window where I can look out at the storm. It is pleasant for me to know that the High School students can now pass from the north building to the south building without going out of doors and being subjected to the rigors of the weather, also to know that it will not be long until the students will enjoy all the advantages of the wonderful new building. A. A. MCDONALD. As you leave the halls of Washington High School, I wish for each of you the largest measure of success and happiness. The faculty has tried to produce a sympathetic environment in which there could be realized the high purpose of acquiring a knowledge of essential truth. We have believed that an educational institution is essentially a place for the exercise of mentality, a time for thinking and an opportunity of knowing. The test of your ac- complishment as you go out from here will be whether you will be Thinkers who Do and Doers who Think. The Thinker who knows nothing of Doing is a futility, and the Doer who has not learned to think is a social hazard. In addition to its scholastic challenge, we believe that your high school has been a good place for making friends and that it gave you experience in getting on with people.
