Diploma in hand we gaze into the misty future. For this moment we have waited, dreamed, and worlced so long that it still seems a desire unfulfilled. We stand bewildered as we loolc before us into the active complex world, unsympathetic, perhaps, and harsh in its judgments. Ambition talces many forms, to some it is higher learning, to others the thrill of the business world and a career, to others a home filled with contentment and happiness. CLASS PROPHECV Down in Washington, making quite a stir in diplomatic circles, is Senator Sam Sovatsky, a veritable Patrick Henry of modern times. His addresses have left his worthy colleagues in a state of perma- nent somnambulism, wondering whether they had dreamed or whether those long orations had really come out of such a little man. Sam's office is usually knee deep with congressmen. The attraction? Well, Sam has a secretary, his secretary has blond hair, the blond hair graces a pretty gce, and the pretty face boasts dimples. What more is there to sayl Oh yes, her name is Arlean resens. Hollywood has a new star and like all new stars has photographed her in the latest creation with her latest beau. CWhat an old fashioned wordlb The new star is beautiful Dorothy Maranes, the latest creation is a heavenly blue frosted-glass gown, a very new material, and the latest beau is Max Sweedler, a noted A. P. reporter .... Although Max has deserted them, Mike Parkusch, Gerald Weinstein, and Michael Bobby, the three remaining vocalists of the original quartet, have signed to sing over station WABC, the station managed by Charles Prokop. Another resident of Hollywood is Guerino Trama, who is making Mickey Junior and Minnie Junioress go through their tricks for you in the Walt Disney studio .... Dr. Jack Pitlick, who is noted for his genial bedside manner, decided to set up a practice among the Hollywood beauties not long ago. To his surprise he was left minus his nurse, Evelyn Balzer, soon afterward. It seems that a talent scout from M. G. M. discovered her behind the forceps, pincers, etc., and placed her in front of the camera instead. A recent article in the Aero-Digesti' Magazine states that uScotty,' Caplan has just built himself a home resembling a hangarl Well, famous people are well known for their eccentricities, and Scotty, who has been airminded since infancy, certainly is famous since his record flight around the world. Qver in New York City, Mary Guardabasso has been voted the most popular model in that city. When we last saw her, which was at the latest automobile show, she was modeling a green cellophane evening gown, designed by Mlle. Maenza. Very becomingl Yes, quitel . . . Down at the harbor in New York City we found Frank Provenzano setting out for Cuba to bask in the sun and not in the electric lights. Frank, a professional model, has been photographed for tooth-paste ads, hair tonics, shirts, suits, and has posed beside many a pretty girl in an airplane K built for two. Sailing with Frank was Frank Sidora, who is going, not for a rest, but to dance before the dark-eyed signoritas and the dashing signors of that island. On an incoming boat, looking very fit and tanned, was Willard Haase, engineer, who has just returned from a year s sojourn in Panama. He was sent there by the United States government to investigate the need of new bridges and roads. And he has done a very fine job, too, we are told. Verdun Griepp, poet laureatef' of the United States, and Mary Jane Stoik, famous illustrator of books, returned on the Queen Mary Crecently remodeledjafter a trip abroad during which time each gathered inspiration for future poems and illustrations. A very interesting partnership, in New York City, concerns two former Rochesterians-Miss Helen Falk, a well known psychologist, and Miss Florence Razes, who handles the business end of their venture. They should have a very fertile field in which to carry out their plan of studying the problem child. The short but brilliant career of Dorothy Davidson, as journalist, was brought to an abrupt end the other day, not by death but by matrimony.
