P HODOR SOCIETY The National Honor Society, composed of Iunior and Senior boys and girls, is a select group, for members of the society must maintain at least a B average throughout their high school years. Before a student is inducted into the society, four things are taken into consideration- Character, Leadership, Service, and Scholarship, Thus the purpose of the Honor Society is to up- hold these high ideals. SGHIOR SURVEY Senior Survey is a review of the four basic subjects-English, History, Math- ematics and Science. After this review is given, a general statewide test, called the Senior Test, is taken. Stu- dents ranking high on this test are often awarded scholarships to well- known colleges and universities. ROW ONE: Marion Meade, Iune Love, loyce Smith. ROW TWO: Ronald Sta- ten, Paul Whaley. The three highest in each subject then took the final scholarship tests in May at Portsmouth High School. Trophies are presented annually to the tour students making the highest ratings on the State Scholarship Tests. In 1952 there was cr tie between Marion Meade and Paul Whaley and a duplicate award was made.
