OFFICERS Fall Should Wisconsin Adopt a Daylight- Saving Program? Resolved, That the United States Should Defend Formosa . These are just two of the many topics Lincolnites have dis- cussed during the past year. Under the able direction of Miss Anna Porter and Mrs. Marion Kearby the members gain accurate, enlightening, and valuable information about our country's current problems. Learning how to think and decide wisely, getting acquainted. with other students, and speaking before audiences are among the benefits of this organization. To lend variety and added enjoyment to the meet- ings, members present humorous debates, read- ings, original skits, and community sings. Since those first days at Washington, Alphanea has continued to remain on the list of top-notch clubs. The pro- grams include radio plays, comical skits, ex- remporaneous readings, panel discussions, and stormy debates-with such topics as Behavior at Football Games, and Should United States History Be Compulsory? Each meeting offers something new, while still maintaining the high standard of entertainment. A mixer welcoming the new Alphs and another honoring the gradu- ating seniors are enjoyed by all members. Under the direction of Misses Mary Jane Ryan and Louise Schmidt, Alphanea remains a must on Tonia's extra-curricular activity list. ,. ,M WM

Under the guidance of Miss C. Hazel Handt and Mr. Walter Candy, the programs- panels, quizzes, radio plays, and music selec- tions-provide laughs and excitement to all. Topics such as Should the Wisconsin State College and the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee Consolidate? and Should Milwau- kee Adopt an All-Year School? were discussed by outstanding panel members. All Philo- matheans enjoyed the welcoming mixer for new members and the one honoring the gradu- ating seniors. The variety provided by this society of fellowship makes it an entertain- ing as well as educational forensic society.
