Every other Wednesday Alphane- ans proudly flaunt the badge which proclaims them loyal members of Washingtons earliest literary society. Each meeting offers something new, yet the high standard of entertainment is always main- tained. Lively, educational debates are offered, original skits and jingles, readings, and musical numbers add zest to the meetings. Projects such as the Alph-aberical choice system and birthday- month groupings promote student participation. Alphanea also initiated a Member of the Week feature. In order to attain this honor, the person must have rendered valuable service to the club or the school. Talent, Willingness, and capable leader- ship are among the qualities which keep Alphanea in its prominent place at Washington.

LINCGLN What makes Lincoln Forensic Society such an outstanding organization? The answer lies in the many opportunities for social and educational im- provement offered to its members . . . Among these benefits are learning how to think and decide wisely, getting acquainted with other students, and speak- ing before audiences . . . Skits, humorous debates, community singing ,and varied readings were pre- sented to lighten the programs . . . Debating, the chief activity in Lincoln, offered such thought- provoking questions as: Should extracurricular activities become a part of the regular school time, Should the United States grant a loan to Great Britain, and, Should President Truman's Strike Settlement Plan be adopted. That's why you hear the members say, 'Tm proud to be a Lincolnite!', Top Row: A. Anton, R. Frockt, G. Steinkrauss, A. Kagen, M. Lovett, S. Berson, T. Pittelman, I. Kane, W. Marcus, G. Hart, L.
