Miss Gerda Wittman, Miss Florence Le' ota Van Vliet, and Mr. Walter Janisch left the school this year. Miss Van Vliet is now the Chair' man of English at Custer High School, while Miss Wittman and Mr. janisch are teaching at Solo' mon Juneau High School. Because of illness Miss Nellie Havens and Mr. Guy Bannister have left Washington temporarily. Lessons in music have lbeen discontinued, so we no longer have the part' time teacher, Mrs. OsgoodfMoore. To compensate for these losses there are nine new instructors at Washington. In the English department we have Miss Loretto Clarke, Miss Edna Goeden, and Mrs. Edithe Marcks. Miss Clara Huerth is a new instructor in our Art department, as is Miss Ruth Sugf den in shorthand and typing. The Bookkeeping department claims Mrs. Josephine Hughes and Mrs. Helen Buffet. Mr. john Cinkosky is a new teacher of history and commercial geography, as well as assistant coach of basketball, football, and intramural sports. We have ten teachers in the Science department, eight each in the Mathematics and Foreign Language departments, and two in both Speech and Manual Arts. Household Arts and Gym claim one and three instructors respectively. The Art department has iive instructorsg History, six, English, eighteen, and Commercial, twenty. As may be judged from the number of teachers, the English and Commercial departments have the highest enrollment. Do you know that our teachers sometimes forget that they are instructors? They have their good times just as we do. In October our faculty had a picnic at Mr. Ewers' farm near Menominee Falls. It was a true assembly of the clan, for all the faculty wives and children turned out for the fun. For entertainment the clan pitched horseshoes, played ball, and participated in various out' door sports. In December the faculty decided to abandon its annual Christmas party, giving the money for this entertainment to charity. ,N ' ww 's-Xr S K, gg Six cz .,..
