Miniclier for the fine job he has done in the past four years as principal of Washiiigtrmii. Though he came to our school in 1946 as counselor. the class of 1956 feels a sort of kinship with him as he beeame principal when we entered as freshmen: The job ofa principal is not an easy one. as one can see. The biggest and hardest job is guiding us along the right path in our important high school years. His wonderful leadership has molded us and will influence us in our future years as we strive to become good citizens. PW? mm Assistant Principal Mr. George Kirkeby. Washir1gton's new assistant principal. came to us from Harding High School where he served as guidance counselor for six years. A native ofjewell, lowa. Mr. Kirkeby attended Lu- ther College there where he recciied his FLA. degree at Decorah, Iowa. He was active in football in college. He holds a Master's Degree from the University of Minne- sota. He is a member ofthe Minnesota Association of See- ondary School Principals. the MEA. and the Principals' Forum. He is married and has one son. Seniors learned to like and respect Mr. Kirkeby for his friendly Hrmness and fairness during his first year at Washington. Page five
