Ufhile four happy years have passed for you, the world has gone from war to a period of striving to fnd a formula for permanent peace. You as students in 'Washington High School have experienced changes in your own lives as signihcant as changes in the world. You now approach the time for leaving school, and the world expects you to accept the responsibility of citizenship and make practical application of your school- ing. 1 hope you have made use of every opportunity to secure the training and the information which your school has offered in order to prepare yourself for these new responsibilities. If so, you will have no regrets. Education in a democracy such as ours is the interest and concern of its citizens. You have a personal responsibility to malqe your education contribute to better living for yourself, for your family, and for your communityj even more, a responsibility to assure the students who follow you opportunities for education equal to those you have had.
