STATE CHAMPS Bill Sampson Washingtons all-star nine finished their season with a record of fifteen straight wins. They Walked off with the city conference, twin city, and state titles. Coached by Harry Nele son and led by such all-city stars as Captain Rennie Erickson, Dick Kaess, and Ierry Gelbmann in the infield and Ray Cook and Ioe Matz on the mound, the Presidents virtually Walked through the league. The sea- son was highlighted by loe Matz's no-hit, no-run game against Monroe. Bill Sampson, lulie and Spike Struntz made up the slugging outfield.
