HCDMECOMING '53 Monday, October 5, officially opened the 1953 homecoming. On that day work was begun on all floats to be entered in the Annual Home- coming Parade. The freshman, under the direction of Mr. Ham- mond, started on the float which was to be one of the favorites in the Friday parade. lt was rated as one of the finest displays of craftmanship ever shown by a freshman group The huge heart around which the float was centered was colored in red and surrounded by girls from the freshman class and the theme Our Heart Beats for Victory The sophomores began work on their float with much enthusiasm By midweek the float wa nearly completed At the time Miss Wagener reported that work was rapidly progressing At Welnitz Garage the Junior float committee was hard at work on their float which would later be one of the top prize winners in the T953 Homecoming Parade Last but not least were the sen ors working oi their float at the home of Doris Desremaux They worked long and hard on the float that would bring glory to them and tneir class lt was the 4th year in a row that the class of 511 would win a first prize on their fl at Well Break e Record was theme of the white pulled napkin float which had as the centerpiece a large black record. Tuesday was the day on which we voted for homecoming queen. Each of the iunior and senior classes had already voted three girls to the court from which the queen would be selected. Thursday work was continued on floats as well as many other decorating activities throughout the city and school Then Friday with the completion of floats the parade and in the evening the freshmai sopho more game and annual bonfire and pep rally lxo classes were held friday morning so that all classes and clubs cou d complete their floats At two oc'ock tne annual homecoming parade was held ln the evening the activities began with the frosh sophomore game with tne sophomore win ning by a small margin Following the game the bonfire and pep rally was held at whicn the prize winning floats were announced as well as a ew words from some of our prominent citizens Saturday was t e game wutn Seymour at which the Falls eeven won by a big marg n Kfter he game the homecoming activities were climaxed witw tne annual dance sponsored by the lunior class The homecoming as a whole was an over whelming success and en oyed by all ,f J I ,yyw f7j ,W ,L fftvffa fvlffiynfrfiy pw' an sm, rw ffvffj f'5l 7 I-5 VlfI 10' Qfff smffw M 19 l-15 'Y f . . . .
