SOPHOMORE CLASS Q9 The Sophomore class is the largest in the school, having T15 jf members, and quite naturally, we think it is the best. Aside from our weight of numbers, we can boast the highest proportion ot athletes of any class. During the year we took charge ot decorating the Falls for Home- coming and inspired our boys to victory. We also conducted our own program for Thanksgiving and with the aid of Bob Brainerd, Betty Gilligan, Hubert Arndt and Dale Bundy presented the true meaning of the holiday to the student body. ROW A-Rehearsal at massed Band Clinic of February 26. e music department of Oconto Falls High School the able direction of Mr J C Whitney has marked improvement and growth during the year The department consists of the following under made school musical groups Our Junior High Chorus which performed at the Christmas program both vocally and with the use of Tonettes surprised us pleasantly by proving that a real melody could be born from such a lowly strument Our Junior Band which trains students in the funda mentals has produced and promoted some fine must clans for our Senior Band ln spite of the mistakes and complaints the Junior Band has shown more promise and progress than any other musical group Many of the members know nothing about music or their instruments when they enter in the fall but by the end of the semester they show remarkable prog ress and by the end of the year a good proportion of them have been promoted to the senior band The Senior Band has added a new look to go with its excellent music This year the Band Parents Organ: zation and the School Board combined to purchase new uniforms and accessories for the band The first concert with the new uniforms was held at the half of the Seymour Basketball game on January 9 and it was a truly pretty sight The Glee Club still remains as the top vocal group in the school In combination with the band they made recordings of the Christmas Concert which were played over Marinette Station WMAM through spon sorship of the Falls Paper Company. The three student directors of the Glee Club are: Joan Tisch Lulabel Davis and Carol Bramschreiber. They are to be com- mended for the fine job they have done in conducting in the absence of the director and at the concerts given at other schools. Mr. Moss is supervisor of the library and is kept busy throughout the school year ordering new books and getting them ready for the avid readers of O. F. H. S. By the end ot the year we will have approximately S600 worth of books. During tree periods the students take turns being librarian. They check books in and out, make out new cards, and put books back on shelves. This year we had something new added to the li- brary -- a gate extending across the doorway to keep the library closed oft when it was not in use. FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA The membership of the Oconto Falls Chapter ot the F.F.A. totals 91. Its members are divided into three groups- there are twenty-eight Green Hands who are the first year members sixty-two Chapter Farmers who are second year members and one State Farmer who has met the necessary state requirements. Although anyone can belong who is a student enrolled in Vocational Agriculture it is not compulsory for the student to ioin. However each member is required to carry a project. Our local chapter is a member of the state organization which totals more than T200 members and of the national organization. Our officers are Jim Magnin president- Tom Kussovv vice-president and Robert Ellner treasurer.
