X Mr Louls Posny Dean of Boys In the 30 years I have taught at Wash1ngton I'I1gh School I have found out one th1ng for certaln sa1d MISS Sweetman That IS that young people themselves do not change Thelr styles may change therr rnannerxsms may change even alas' thelrmannersmay sometlmes change but boys and g1rls do not And 1t should not be otherw1se Mlss Sweetman added For young people, at the threshold of a mature hfe ln the world, have ever been fresh and eager, unspolled e1ther by success or farlure, w1ll1ng to dare and to challenge, and anxlous to prove that nothxng, really, IS 1mposs1ble And no change 1n those respects could ever be for the better Mxss Gertrude Sweetman has been Dean of Gnrls at Wash1ngton I-hgh School s1nce September, 1947 In ad d1t1on to the dutles of that posxtlon, she teaches Latm Um Beam Mr Posny has taught brology at Wash1ngton Hlgh School s1nce 1949 In the fall of 1953 he also assumed the dutles of Dean of Boys When I flrst took over the pos1t1on of Dean of Boys I knew that the op portun1t1es for personal contacts w1th the young men at Washmgton I-hgh School would be xncreased but I won dered whether the larger number w1th whom I would be requlred to deal would make my relat1ons wlth all more 1m personal sa1d Mr Posny To my great pleasure I have found that the result I feared has not followed Not only have I been pmvxleged to know more of the boys at the school but I feel I know all of them thelr problems and therr hopes and amb1t1ons better Mxss Gertrude Sweetman Dean of Gxrls Page nl I ll . . .
