Girls Tennis In her second year as Panther girls ' tennis coach, Ann Dodd worked hard to teach and tone skills necessary to keep Washington High School competitive with other area netters. Inexperience was, as usual, a drawback, but the Panthers served up a 5-10 season, beating LaVille, Mishawaka, Jimtown, LaSalle. and Northbridge. Much was learned to carry over into the 1984 season. The 1983 Girls Softball team, coached by Gene Dziubinski, had alot of potential. At times they couldn ' t put it all together but they still fought to the end. The girls next season should go a long way with the talent of the underclassmen. They bring a great strength to the team. The starters most of the season were Michelle VanWynsbergh (Capt.), Lori Rothballer (Capt.), Chris Rzepnicki, and Lori Coquitt, Junior Tracy Gray, Sophomores Shelly Tuttle. Sandy Harmacinski, and 3 Freshman Debbie Weiler, Michelle Lewis and Sue Steiner. The girls who received sweaters were Yolanda Rodriguez, Lori Colquitt, Chris Rzepnicki, Sandy Harmacinski, and 3 Freshman Debbie Weiler, Michelle Lewis and Sue Steiner. Special award winners were; Kiwanis award — Chris Rzepnicki, M.V.P. — Michelle VanWynsbergh, Coach award — Lori Colquit. Batting average award — Debbie Weiler, and Sportsmanship award — Lori Colquit.
