Everyone took pride in their school. Although some didn ' t show it as much as others did, Washington did have a lot of spirited people. This could be seen through the cheerleaders, band, pom pon girls, athletic teams, and especially the fans. The cheerleaders gave their all to cheer their teams on and to help promote school spirit. The pep band and poms entertained the crowds. The athletic teams tried their best to keep up or improve Washington ' s reputation in sports. And . . . the fans . . . the most important part. They supported the Panthers in many ways. Whether it was by painting their hair and faces green and white, sporting a Washington High School jersey or just by cheering the teams on when they needed it most. Washington ' s student body was one with a great amount of pride and spirit! Top: The volleyball players anxiously await the announcing of their names. As Labor Day approached, the anticipation and tension mounted while students prepared for that first day back to school. Students soon got back into the swing of waking up at 6:30 In the morning, talking In the halls and then rushing to get to class on time, studying, and of course homework. Many students looked forward to returning to another year of football games, dances, and musicals. It was the start of another school year that would soon become the memories of our lives. This year students came back to something new, the Epworth Forest Retreat. Forty students and eight staff members of Washington attended the program on September 20 and 21. Its purpose was for the staff and students to work together to point out the strengths and problem areas of Washington High School. The retreat proved to be an important step towards the Improvement of W.H.S. It encouraged students to become involved and speak out. Top: Look at what we ' re making.
