The Washington Panther is the symbol of pride in achievements. The life of each student is the life of Washington High School. What they do makes Washing- ton what it is. The fun of a class party, the solemnity of'graduation, the ioy of being best are all shared by those around us. Every individual strives towards a goal: each of us wants recognition. There are few accomplish- ments that go unpraised, and little praise given to those who don't deserve it. Our goals are not just personal, they are shared by the entire student body. We make friendships, study for tests together, plan parties to- gether, and live our lives together. The Washington student is a true Panther, a member of a proud and undying family. He represents Washington High School not only in those special moments of glory, but during every day that he lives.

Activities at Washington have been a symbol of outstanding pride and tradition. Through numerous social activities we have remained a school of excellence striving to develop character, pride, and an understanding of social relations. The National Honor Society, the student council, and the human relations board act as inspiration to the entire student body for fairness in all governmental and academic aspects. Sportsmanship and championship in all types of sports has been evident in Washington's athletic events. The Panther may show his loyalty to the school by cheering at the pep assemblies, going to the game, and ioining the cheerblock. Proms, courts, and dances instill a feeling of sentiment and sociability. Car washes, selling taffy apples, life savers, green machine buttons, candy, and ioining Junior Achievement are various fund raising activities used to buy art equipment, band equipment, class gifts and many other items for the school.
