MRS. CATHRYN BINGAMAN English MR. ANDRE BOHANNON English E GLISH What is life? Explain Confucianism. These are common examples of questions that tax any English student's brain. ln the classroom new ideas and facts are brought to light by open discussion and debate. Reports are given that are a result of a great deal of research. Themes are written to help a student gain skill in composing. Grammar, literary interpretation ancl discussion are skills of great importance to an English student. Once these English skills are acquired, he can gain added facts about other sub- jects through writing, researching, and discussing. Everyone involved in an English class learns to speak and report before a group by giving book reviews. Some- times a small group will report on a work from a Held of literature that the whole class has studied, or the style of an author will be discussed. In this manner each student is permitted time to present his own views on the subiect, and a greater respect for opinions of others is found. The entire English course is focused on making students think and reason intelligently. MISS HALLIE CLAMPITT MRS. THELMA COWAN MISS NOREEN DEANE Librarian English English
