Tom Kmmkle Vice-president Duck Loase OFFICERS Secretary Karen Bowman Treasurer Dorothy Gill At the top of the hst thls year were our semors those who left the halls of W T H S on June first a, very active class had a dance car wash sold greetmg cards and candy put on an assembly May 24 also did a lot of hard work for which they were rewarded wlth a diploma plus many memorles of their school hfe at W T H S for four years 4 fl D .1 .ff l N SENIOR CLASS HISTORY 1951 1955 In the fall of 1951 a besieging army was sighted from the battlements of VVTHS Suddenly a cry rang from the keep- The Freshmen ' To arms' In a mmute s notice the peaceful castle was transformed mto a warlike mien We knew it would be a four year fight for victory with many pitfalls and dangers lurking m our path But there w as no t1me for worry onward we sped Our quarters were Rooms 2 and 4 with Mr Bossart and Miss Smvely as our commanding officers VVe elected our officers as follows Pres Bob Whlten vice pres Ron Strong and sec treas Connie Young Our representatives to the royal court were Bob Whlten and Karen Bowman A new experience for us was our class assembly We emerged from our lowly stage and entered mto a new realm We were Sophomores That year we elected our officers as pres Ed Fitzgerald vxce pres Tom Kunkle and sec treas Karen Bowman Rooms 1 and 7 with Mr Shontz and Mr Roberts were our headquarters That year the new addition to the building was being built there was a lot of noise dirt and confusion but best of all there was early dismissal every day And then came the second advance mto our third year of service This time things were different we had more space to cover new officers to work under and longer working hours We appomted new staff officers prexy Tom Kline vip Ronme Strong and note and money keeper Pat Yockey Our new quarters were 105 and 108 and our leaders mcluded Mrs Bossart Mrs Shontz and Mrs Fulton Having passed the halfway mark of the battle we were entitled to wear gold bands what slgnificancel We even held a dance Convlcts Caper which proved to be a success During this year was marked the beginning of the annual all school at Hillcrest Country Club Finally the dawn of our semorshlp was begun and Rooms 205 and 206 were to be our final headquarters at WTHS Mr Shontz and Mr Yount were our advisors This was our fmal attack and we settled down laboring to retrieve graduation honors Officers for our fourth year were pres Tom Kunkle vice pres Dick Loase sec Karen Bowman and treas Dorothy Gill Our class play Meet Corliss Archer was presented in December and was a huge success After returning from Christmas vacation we began makmg plans for the remamder of our term We chose announcements rose as our class flower and crimson and white as our colors Our motto w as Knowledge is a treasure but practice is the key to it This year for the flrst time in XVTHS hlstorv the basketball team won the VVPIAL Section 21 Championship and the AK Championship VVe were proud to know that several of our classmates helped make this possible April brought the all school play and Coronation Ball Our rel resentatnes to the court were king and queen Ronme Strong and Karen Bowman respectlvelv Senior attendants mcluded Dorothy Gill Tom Kunkle Sue VVatt and Dick Ioase The all school Recognition Banquet for students participating in activities came in May as well as exhibitions and the Prom held again at Hillcrest Country Club May brought lots of other important events for us such as the Senior Banquet and Assembly Baccalaureate and Commencement Now our four years of fighting have drawn to a close and the battle has been won Leaving the field surrounded with laurels of xlctory there is a touch of happmess and yet a touch of sadness as we have reached the point of embarkment Karen Bowman Connie Young Sandra Hepler - KK YY ' Y .
