Mrs. Bacon After forty-two years of teaching, thirty of which were spent teaching English and history at Washington, Mrs. Bacon is re- tiring. She had previously taught at Rai- nier for seven years. She had the added distinction of being a basketball coach in eastern Oregon before college. Upon retiring she plans to travel a great deal, including in her itinerary: Mexico, the Grand Canyon, and San Francisco. Mrs. Bacon will keep busy in her spare time by taking care of her two cats and her garden. The many, many people who have had the pleasure and good fortune of having Mrs. Bacon as their teacher, friend, or ac- quaintance, join the Lens in wishing her many years of continued success. 24 ln ppreciation Miss Gberg Miss Oberg, who has been a biology teacher and counselor at Wa-Hi for 38 years, will retire this year. Previously she taught on Vashon Island for two years and later for one year as an exchange teacher in Hawaii. After her retirement she plans to spend her time at the beach and forget to live by a bell. When she returns to Portland, she plans to take part in the activities of various groups. The students of Washington, whose par- ents were but small children when Miss Oberg came to Wa-Hi, wish her a fond farewell and may she enjoy many years of happy, active retirement which she so greatly deserves.
