rexyfs QDMC amafiolz lt has been customary in the past for the class president, in this proclama- tion to write a great deal of optimistic sentiment as to the future. However, due to the circumstances under which we graduate, l feel justified in taking a different attitude. For the past generation, the high school graduates have looked forward to further schooling, followed by taking up a career of some sort. This time, however, we graduates have something else to look forward to first. War is not pleasant to anticipate. We have dedicated our lives to developing the best that is in us, but we hope that this will not be used on the bloody battlefront. Naturally, however, if the necessity arises, we will fight just as courageously as we know how for our nation, for we hold free men's rights dearer than any- thing else. We would like to thank all those who have helped us in our high school career, especially our advisors, Miss Geballe and Mr. Bouck, for their excellent supervision of our class, and also Mr. Boyd, who has been very cooperative and understanding. It is an honor to be his last graduating class, and we wish continued happiness to him as he takes life a little easier. The faculty, as a whole, has done its job well, hence we feel that we are prepared for the next step, whatever it may be. As we leave you now, we wish you good luck, good health and good cheer. We feel sure that with your loyal cooperation, Washington High School will continue to grow in service to this community. -SHERMAN CLARK
