Margaret Proppe IACOBSON BARRINGER BARRINGER EDWARDS LAMB ALDEN CORSETTI SAX IOHNSON GLAVINS PROPPE This was a term of activity and achievement for the executive committee. Probably the outstanding accomplishment of the term, was the introduction of a Safety Patrol and a Student Court. This plan has the support of the police department and will probably be extended to include all the Portland High Schools. Washington's Student Body was victorious over Benson High School in a drive for the highest percentage of Student Body members. The winning of this contest provided our school with a bucket painted maroon and gold by the Benson Student Body president. The Benson president also provided Washington's president with a free ride around the field at the Benson- Washington football game. Some very enjoyable assemblies were held, including the appearance of the first Big Name band that has ever entertained at Washington. A Student Body assembly was held to give the students an opportunity to discuss Ways to improve the school. Two Student Body dances were given, with admission free to student body members. To the Student Body President, Frank Iacobson, should go most of the credit, for through his efficient leadership and untiring efforts, the executive committee has been successful.

girfs I .Eeaque President . . . . . Pat Olsson Vice-President . . Natalie Amato Secretary . . . Margaret Garth Treasurer . . . Phyllis Miller Sergeant-at-Arms Roberta Garth Editor . . Aidelle Kerrigan OLSSON First row: Ruth Chappell, Marilyn Hudson, Beverly Lundstrom, Barbara Hood. Second row: Katherine Delistraty, Ieanne Sadler, Norma Wallis, Sumi Miyazawa. Under the ceaseless efforts of Pat Olsson and Miss Ohmert, Girls' League has again completed a most successful term. The first main event was a breath-taking installation which followed last year's ceremony of giving a White Carnation to each member of the council. A breakfast instead of a tea was given for the advisors in the cafeteria. lt was very enjoyable to everyone who attended. October 27 to October 3l was the ever memorable Girls' League Week. The theme of the Week was patriotic. There were two general assemblies, which carried out the theme. There was also a style-show for girls only. But the main events of the week were the sale of some darling victory pins, and of carmelized apples. The Co-ed Ball, or The Witches Wobble as it Was called, put a perfect ending on Girls' League week. Helen Gross, a second termer, was elected queen. , All the members of the council Wish to thank the girls of Washington High for the co-operation which they have shown in making this term the best ever. AMATO GARTH MILLER GARTH KERRIGAN
