ig . MR. WINDNAGLE You of the Ianuary l942 class have been studying history. Now, suddenly and without your volition, you have had thrust upon you a principal role in one ot the most critical dramas ot all time. Fate has decreed that your generation shall make history as tew generations in all time have done. Al- ways remember that you are an inte- gral part of man's great democracy, that you are not inanimate pawns but masters of yourselves and of your fu- ture. May following generations thank God for the type of citizens upon whom this duty and privilege rested-you ol the lanuary, 1942 class and your fel- lows! Vice-Principal MR. WINDNAGLE HAZEL M. OI-IIVIERT The tree has at all times been a sym- bol ot growth and strength. The winds and storms may beat but it holds its own. l cannot think of a more appro- priate symbol for the Class of Ianuary 1942. Our sincerest hope is that Wash- ington High School has contributed to your growth and strength by helping to develop those qualities which will enable you to hold fast in these days of stress and storm. The preservation of our forests is vital to our nation. More vital yet is the preservation of our youth and what it stands for-Be strong-Hold last-We look to you. Dean of Girls MISS OHMERT
