OUR SCHOOL BOARD Many watched Washington High School grow from an impersonal frame- work to the beautiful steel structure it is today. Our school represents the combined efforts of the School Board and Administration in the program of expansion in both the physical facilities and in the scholastic program as well. Stubblefield Superintendent As one of the many in whom you evoke the keenest admiration and respect, the Yearbook Staff takes this occasion on behalf of the stu- dents and faculty at Washington High School to say--many thanks to you. Since 1951, Mr. J. Kendall Hog- gard, Director of Instruction, has contributed much to the aca- demic growth of Washington High School. Consultation in scholastic matters and direction in course evaluation have proven his capa- bilities. Sincerely, quietly, modestly, and with grace and dignity has Mr. Hoggard demonstrated his deep in- terest in the students of Washington High. Our superintendent is more than an able administrator. He has a deep interest in education, and has de- voted his concern to those values which Washington High School en- deavors to maintain. Courage, loyalty, understanding, initiative, vision and a saving sense of humor are all attributes of a good administrator. We, the students and faculty of Washington High School, salute you as an out- standing exponent of all these qualities. Under your leadership our school has been built up to a high point of efficiency and to a high standard. It is an honor for us at Washington High School to have you as our superintendent. PRINCIPAL Mr. E. D. Robinson, Principal Coordinating instruction, activities and service into an effective educational program rests with the principal. The administration and staff of Washington High School are ever seeking ways to broaden the dimensions of learning. For the past two years, Mr. Robinson has performed his arduous tasks with a seriousness, a sense of responsibility and a feeling of the gravity of the issues involved which deserves the highest praise. He received the distinguished NASSP award for professional service given in the promotion of secondary education. He is also listed in the 1962 Who's Who in American Education. Page 4
