The 1Vashington team went to llnrlington expeeting a hard game and found it. The linrlington team had an advantage in size and won by a seore of 35 to 15. After the game at Burlington the 1Vashington team was not i11 l very good shape. yet they managed to defeat Mt. Pleasant at Mt. Plea- sant by a seore of 115 to 7. Early in the year, Miss liernadine Xeville, delmate eoaeh, issued a eall for eandidates for the teams, wliieh was responded to by a squad of fifteen. Later in the year the two regular teams and a girls' aftirmative team were ehosen to represent the sellool in this years eontests. 'llhe Af- firmative team eonsisted ot' Dnnliam Morrison, James Yan Nostrand, and Merrill Rolmbg while the Negative team ineluded t'harles Miller, John Matthews, Arthur Qliirney, and Dean lievins. When but a boy he could see in the future and made up his mind what he wanted to do when he grew up. But he also could see that he must prepare for it. So being a farmer boy, it was natural for him to Start raising stock. He kept this up while in grade sehool and high school, gradually building up his herd. Then came the time for him to enter College. His parents could have given him the money. But No- His father had started out without a cent and had been successful, so the lad decided that he could do the same. Until the last year at College he paid his own Way by doing odd jobs. He did most anything he could find to do and always had a job. In this way he had all the money he needed. During the last year the stock was sold so that he would not have to work. This was not done for any idle reason, but to enable him to carry three special courses, the diplomas for which lie is the proud possessor today. The young man has taken his place in our community and his p1'es- ent success is the culmination of a vision together with years of thrift in preparation for the time to make the vision a reality.
