Stage lighting, scenery building, and make-up are emphasized and practiced during the first semester of dramatics Allen Eagan and Carol McKay are adjusting the first bank of lights on stage. Languages And Speech Enable Students Debate may be explained as geometry applied to reasoning. Students participating in debate learn to logically discuss a prob- lem with teams from other schools. ln speech the mechanics and fundamentals of speech are stud- ied and speeches are given in class in order that the students may gain confidence and practice in speaking. The study of language is becoming more and more impor- tant. Two years of Latin which is the foundation of all living lan- guages are offered. Two modern languages are available to stu- dents-French and Spanish. Plans for a language lab were begun this year. This will enable students to gain a better understanding of languages. Hearing 0nc's own voice helps to correct it. Philliph Miller handles the controls while Sheryl Raglow records her voice for practice. I2 11
