I ndividuality can often times be destructive to a group ' s purpose, but what each person adds makes for a better whole. At Washington, the environment is perfect for students to contribute their personalities to the school ' s character. Ath¬ letes, funny people, and serious students all blend together to make Washington what it is.

K nowledge, the accumulation of information for the benefit of the people. To gain it is not always an easy task. Nagging parents, per¬ sistant teachers, thick textbooks, and late nights had to be tolerated by each student. However terrible it may seem at times, the students here realize that learning is a primary goal at Washing¬ ton, and we are reminded of this fact whenever we have troubles and need the help of a teacher or other faculty member. The time they are willing to spend with us makes us realize the importance of school and knowledge.

E ntertaining the students during school hours was a main concern this year. As a result, teachers and the faculty put in a little extra effort. Science teachers found it useful to demon¬ strate lessons through the use of bowling balls, bike tires, or even soup cans. The bizarre core of English teachers encouraged the abstract, the sublime, and the altogether different ideas swimming around in students ' heads. Students looked forward to visiting the outrageously decorated rooms they had helped to create. Lunch time offered music to our ears, rallies, class competition and intramural sports. ■I
