DEDICATION The Student Body of Washington High School wishes to dedicate the Nineteen Hundred and eighty-one Washingtonian to Mr. Richard Burkhart. When one is in need of a job well done is what you desire, Then hang on fella and grab your mind cause he will truly inspire. When the job is done, we’ve had our fun, then he may appear again. For planting seeds and cultivating crops is his idea of a win. Time and hard work have sharpened the mind of this slightish man. From Senior Play to Choral Group to attempting a High School Band. In future days when someone asks, ’’Why study? Why not be like me”? The answer rings, ”1 prefer to be better”. Thanks to Mr. B. He is a junior here at Washington and lives with the Randall family. The Ran¬ dalls have six children which is quite a change from two in Rene’s family in Denmark. He likes Washington and especially likes the idea of changing classes and teachers at the semester. In Denmark everyone has the same courses all year long. Rene enjoys sports hut hates to take time out of his year here to become active in our athletic program. He thinks having sports and other activities in schools are really great. Danish schools don’t have many activities and have no sports at all. You have to join clubs to participate in sports. What Rene misses most about his country is the ocean. He used to live about fifty feet from the water. When Rene returns home he will be finishing business college. OCNMAJM Jan Huizinga is from a town of about 15,000 people in Holland. His family there consists of his parents and his two brothers. Here in America he lives with the Dockter family. Jan is a senior and likes Washington. He says the structure is very different in Holland. In his own country, he would have 10-12 different subjects all year long and a new’ schedule each day. What Jan misses most about being away from home is going out with his friends. He says teenagers in Holland have more freedom. Jan says Americans are more outgoing than the Dutch. The strongest thing Americans do, in Jan’s opinion, is eat corn. Only chickens eat corn in Holland. When returning home, Jan w ill go into the army for thirteen months as all eighteen year olds do. In Switzerland, Martin Kunzi lives in a small town, Interlaken, which his parents two sisters, and brother. Here in Fremont he lives with the Lundstrom family. As a junior, he likes school here at Washington and says its about the same level of difficulty. However, in Switzerland he had nine periods a day but only four days of school each week. Martin says California is nice and that the weather is much better than in Sw it- zerland. He enjoys soccer, playing the piano, music, and reading. The thing Martin misses most is playing the piano, (his host family doesn’t have one) accord¬ ing to Martin the strangest thing Americans do is put everything in the refrigerator. He also mentioned that Americans eat more meat and that there is no peanut butter in Switzerland. When Martin returns home he has two more years of school to finish. 25 i msm S ...CO® f hpire Stikes Back inadu friday the 13th F enr VRdk Way You I cherokees 110 cowboy boots w estern clothes SMs CJ5C® THE ARGUS KK Mt. Due to a few egg-streamly” had incidents that happened during Spirit Week, the classes of 1981,82, and 83 were disqualified. The class of 84 then eliminated themselves, showing true Husky Spirit! However, each class still put on its skit, proving that no matter what, Husky Spirit can’t be jl— J « - i SENIORS GO COSMIC IT started off a nor¬ mal day at WHS, when suddenly the scene flashed 2000 years into the future. Husky Spirit was be¬ ing threatened by alien creatures from Eagleopolis. Would Hank and his follow¬ ers triumph?!? THE FUTURE DEPENDS ON YOU!!! mw SOPHOMORES ROAR INTO THE 20’S. Suddenly the scene was the 1920’s. The days of the big bands, the charleston, Va¬ lentino, and the best of all, the beginning of WHS Spirit. The swingin’ Sophomore Class did some research back to the birth of WHS and brought us to the time when the long history of fantastic WHS Spirit was just starting. JUNIORS ANCHOR ON EAGLE ISLAND The USS Huskies had landed on Eagle Island to save Hank, who was being held captive by the natives of the island. The natives thought that Hank was the Spirit of WHS. The USS Huskies and its crew proved that Hank is just a representa¬ tive of WHS Spirit. The students proved that the true Spirit is in them!!! FRESHMEN ARE HIP IN THE 60’S NO MORE SPIRIT?!? It couldn’t be true!!! Not at WHS!!! Somehow Husky Spirit had to be proven the best!?! Not any one class of people could prove it. But W ' ait!!! Doesn’t it take all classes together to prove it? Of course!!! 35 HUSKY SPIRIT President-Don King Vice-President Max Ramero BOOSTER CLUB The Booster Club is a non-profit organization that raises money through promotional sales. With the cooperation of the student body, the boosters sell candy, sell programs at football games, and have fund raising dinners. The Booster Club budgets all athletics in the school, and they use their fine judgment to determine which activity is best suited for their financial backing. The student body thanks you!
