BOARD OF TRUSTEES Left to Right: A. E. Alameda, M. J. Bernardo, E. M. Grimmer Jr., F. J. Gorghi Jr., J. L. Berchem. This year has been a busy one for our loyal Board of Trustees. In addition to their regular duties they have something new to think of. That of course is the new school being planned for in Decoto. It is being financed by money voted in the last bond issue and state aid. It will be a four year high-school housing 1600 students. We expect it to be completed by September 1959. The school will be located on the corner of Decoto Road and Nursery Road. The credit for the plans of this beautiful new school goes to the Architects Falk and Booth. This new edifice will be a fitting monument to our local Board of Trustees who have given so freely of their time and effort.

If a visitor should come to Washington High, he would find it different from any other school in California. Due to a shortage of busses our students are transported at three different times. First period begins at 8:10, second period at 9:05 and third period at 10:00. This necessitates three different lunch hours. About one-third of the student body goes to lunch at 10:55. The second lunch period starts at 11:45. The third group must wait until 12:35. The students who come first period go home at 2:15. Second period students are dismissed at 3:10, while third period students do not leave until 4:05. With 2300 students and 100 faculty members we are living under very crowded conditions. Every classroom is being used. The hallways are so crowded it is difficult to get to class on time. What we need is a new school.
