Confronted with the usual number of knotty problems the Student Council ironed them out under the capable leadership of our president Roger Halliday. Removal of the trays in the cafeteria and student conduct in the halls were only a couple of the projects undertaken by the Council. Most important to the students however, was the assemblies provided for their enjoyment. The members of the Student Council were: Roger Halliday, president: Marvin Peixoto, vice-president: Nancy Bishop, secretary: Josephine Cheng, treasurer: Mary Corchero, yell-leader: Joe Salvador, Shirley Butler, Irving Alameda, Student Body representatives: Lorraine Rose, thletic manager: Barbara DeBorba, Hatchet editor: Audrey Aguiar, cafeteria bookkeeper: Joan Berney, Girls ' League president: Diana Crossman, Annual editor: Mary Senn, Joy Silveira, Jim Griffin, John Castleman, Senior, Junior, Sophomore and Freshman class representatives respectively.

SYLVA CUSTODIANS Few students realize the importance of the custodians who bring us to school, take us home, keep the buildings and grounds in good shape, serve our good meals, and perform many other services. Mrs. Nunes and Mrs. Gardetto do a fine job of taking care of the Girls ' Gym. Mrs. Rogers and Mrs. Lewis prepare delicious lunches. Mr. Alfred Andrade and Mr. Joe Dutra keep our class rooms and halls clean. George Santos is doing a wonderful job in keeping the lawn and garden at¬ tractive, while Antone Andrade, who has previously done their work, is on leave of absence in Portugal. When Mr. Andrade returns he will be back on the job. Mr. Marks, Mr. Sylva and Mr. Faria drive our school buses. Mr. De Valle, our night watchman, also deserves special mention for a job well done. K.
