GRACE I. KNOLES IRVING HIRD Counsellor of Girls Counsellor of Boys OUR DEANS This year ' s Washingtonian pays tribute to two especially important members of the faculty — the Counsellor of Girls and Counsellor of Boys. A counsellors office is a place where students feel free to discuss personal matters with people who are qualified to listen and discuss. This gives the students a chance to talk things over. For the past four years the counsellors have been Miss Knoles and Mr. Hird who have done an admirable job in helping to unburden students with weighty problems. These two merit the praise of the entire student body and hundreds of alumni. The Washingtonian staff commends our counsellors and hope they will continue their work for many years to come.

W. E. GRAVESTOCK Ending a wonderful and successful year, we of the Student Body, as well as the faculty and the adnninistration, extend our thanks to Mr. Gravestock. As Vice-Principal he has done his duties well by managing the admission to our foot¬ ball games, kept order about the campus during the noon hour, helped with our mar¬ velous assemblies and countless other ac¬ tivities. The Students of Evening School also thank Mr. Gravestock for being a fine Principal to them. He has helped all those with large and small problems. Many will return and find him at his work next fall. The time has come for all of us to leave a wonderful school year. Again we thank you, Mr. Gravestock. Mrs. Evelyn Rose and Miss Dorothy Enos are two important members of the faculty who serve both teachers and students. Mrs. Rose, better known to us as Brownie , does her secretarial work in Room I while Doro¬ thy Enos is Registrar in Room 3. At one time or another every one of us has called upon these kind friends for help and information, and it seems that no matter how busy they might be, answering telephones, writing tardy slips, and issuing new locker keys to students who often mislay theirs, they al¬ ways try to answer our questions. Through¬ out the school year they are asked by teach¬ ers when they will receive their orders of books and other supplies or if the film they have sent for has arrived. Students ask about getting bids for dances, when the next holi¬ day is, if a certain fountain pen has been turned in, and of course the Juniors wonder when their rings will come and Seniors anx¬ iously await their pictures, constantly in¬ quiring about them. On behalf of the faculty and students of Washington High the Wash¬ ingtonian Staff wishes to express its appreci¬ ation for your help and kindness— Brownie and Dorothy. D. ENOS E. ROSE
